ROCK N FLY INSTRUCTIONS/RACE DAY DETAILS
SECURITY – Only the front gate to NAS Pensacola will be open on March 21st beginning at 0600- 0730 for non DOD ID personnel to enter to run the race.  Please have a valid driver’s license or military ID out and ready for the gate guards. Please show your race bib to expedite entry to the base. Vehicles may be asked to pull over for security checks. Please arrive early due to the fact we want a safe and secure race/event. There will be additional security on the course as well as security forces looking for any suspicious activity and bags. If you see anything that you question as suspicious, please notify security or a race volunteer. NO BACKPACKS or BIG BAGS.

WEATHER – Please look for an email and facebook before 6 a.m. if weather is a potential issue. We could delay the start, cancel, or just have a shorter event with the bands inside the NASC auditorium. We will make every effort to have the event but safety is always our first concern. The Commanding Officer of the base will decide if inclement weather will impede us from proceeding with the Rock N Fly.  Plan on running!

PARKING- Please review the parking map on www.runrocknfly.com and follow signs morning of the event. Carpooling is cool for Rock N Flyers. Please look for signs and road guards to direct traffic.

THE START- The half marathon & 5K starts on Radford and Fred Bauer Blvd in front of Starbucks. Please be at the start line NLT 07:45 am for colors, national anthem, invocation and Rock N Fly kick-off. There will be signs to direct runners or walkers to the appropriate corral based on estimated pace per mile. Strollers and walkers please line up in the back.

THE COURSE – The half marathon should be completed within in a 4-hour time limit. Enjoy the 10 music stations, two DJs, , flyover, and 10 water stations along the course. There will be ample water. Gatorade will be offered at mile 10. Be on the lookout for rocker band signs and help us give the biggest trophy ever to the most rowdy fluid station.

THE FINISH- Congratulations on your accomplishment in advance! All half marathoners will be given a medal by a Marine.  All runners will then proceed through a food line with pizza, subs, bananas, oranges, and bottled water. Please enjoy and take only what you will eat. The food is for the runners. You paid. Your hand will be marked and you will not be able to return to the food tent. REMEMBER TO RETURN YOUR CHIP.

THE PARTY- The band will kick-off by 0900. All runners that want to drink will need a wristband and will be marked and receive up to 3 beers. YOU MUST BE 21. Please make sure you drink responsibly!

THE CONTESTS – We will have a best Vegas Theme costume contest. It could be Elvis Presley, Show Girl, Rod Stewart, Wayne Newton, boxer or anything involved with a casino.  Get your lucky cards, dice, and fastest running shoes ready and be looking for the volunteer judges. Please come over to the awards tent and vote for the best fluid station for the biggest trophy ever awarded.

THE SHOW- There will be two jumbotrons one for the start and one for the post-race party. We will begin the jumbotron show around 0630 a.m. The performing color guard will present colors at 0800. The electric guitar national anthem will kick off at 0800. The CO will make opening remarks prior to the video tribute preceding the flyover. The race will start at approximately 0810. The start will be led by a cadre of motorcycles for the half marathon and the Allen Turner Hyundai pace car for the 5K. Yes, we always plan to have a flyover!
